Oscar Awards 2023, our Short List of nominated films

Yesterday the 95th edition of the Oscar Awards was held and, as every year, the gala has been full of surprises that have left no one indifferent. The star of the night was Everything Everywhere All at Once, winner of the Oscar for the best picture.

We also celebrate the Hollywood Academy ceremony with our Short list of 5 nominated films for you to watch while enjoying the unique flavor and aroma of Cohiba Short. Elaborated with the brand’s classic blend, it’s as small as a Mini and with the soul of a Purito. The Short format, a real success in the world, is the ideal Cuban cigarillo to enjoy while watching one of the films in our selection:

Avatar: The Way of Water
Believe it or not, it has been more than a decade since James Cameron’s first Avatar, which also won the award for best film in 1997. This new film has been one of the most awaited releases of the director of Titanic or Terminator, and that explains its overwhelming success at the box office. The visual effects of the film have led him to break records in awards, so if you can, we recommend you watch it in 3D.

The Fabelmans
Considered favorite to win since its release, the film is a semi-autobiographical portrait of the childhood and youth of its director, Steven Spielberg, between the 50s and 60s. The search for love and artistic ambition will move the concerns of a young man from Arizona, affected by a family secret that will mark a before and after in his life. All this, while he tries to tell through films the stories that go through his mind and create an identity of his own.

The Banshees of Inisherin
Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson team up in an endearing comedy directed by Martin McDonagh. The plot takes us to a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, where two lifelong friends, Colm and Pádraic, experience a rollercoaster of emotions and a series of events that directly affect their relationship. A surprising script that will make you turn your empathy towards the protagonists on several occasions.

Elvis
The story of one of the most important icons of popular culture told through the eyes of Baz Luhrmann. In this case, through his relationship with one of the most important and influential people of his career, the coronel and his manager Tom Parker, played by Tom Hanks. More than 20 years of relationship accompanied by a revolutionary cultural context, a frenetic pace of images and an amazing photographic work.

TÁR
An immersion into the life and evolution of the great composer and conductor Lydia Tár, played by Cate Blanchett, in which the show gradually takes center stage. After 15 years Todd Field returns to the big screen to play with the viewer’s perception and create doubt about what really happened with a curious outcome.
