A toast to winter’s end: warm pairings for the season’s final mini moments

Even though we’re slowly approaching the middle of winter, there are still several days of low temperatures and warm sweaters ahead of us. Instead of just waiting for them to pass, we propose making the most of them. And what better way to do so than with a delicious pairing?

The best remedy for the cold is good conversation with friends, a hot drink, and our favorite Cuban mini cigars. Although company depends on everyone, when it comes to pairings that warm you up, we have the best recommendations. Here are four drinks to help you enjoy these last weeks of winter to the fullest.

Pu-erh tea: a thousand-year-old classic

Known in the West as red tea, pu-erh is a fermented tea from China. Unlike other teas, which can be consumed after harvesting, pu-erh undergoes a fermentation process lasting between 2 and 60 years, giving it its characteristic bronze color.

In addition to its antioxidant properties, pu-erh tea offers an earthiness and mineral flavor. To enhance its sweet notes, we can pair it with a Romeo y Julieta Puritos, a cigarrillo with a balanced blend and medium strength.

Irish coffee: caffeine with character

If you’re looking for something stronger for cold days, Irish coffee is one of the best choices. This hot cocktail is characterized by a mixture of Irish whiskey, sugar, and coffee, garnished with a layer of milk or cream that adds smoothness and creaminess.

Known in Gaelic as Caife Gaelach, Irish coffee is a comforting drink that pairs perfectly with a Cohiba White Club, as its smoothness complements the sweetness of the whiskey without overwhelming the palate. The best time for this pairing? Right after dinner, while enjoying the after-dinner conversation.

Mulled wine: the hit of winter

Originally from Europe, mulled wine goes by different names depending on the country. It is a drink with a long history, dating back to Ancient Rome. However, it reaches its highest popularity during the Christmas season, so we cannot let these last weeks of winter pass us by without enjoying it.

It is made with light, semi-dried wine, sugar, orange, and spices. In addition to warming us up sip by sip, it is the perfect accompaniment to minis such as Guantanamera Décimos, as the smoothness of the Cuban mini cigars harmonizes with the spices in the drink.

Hot chocolate with Baileys: sweet and intense

Winter is also the best time for sweets. So, if you have a sweet tooth, hot chocolate with Baileys is just the thing for you. Characterized by its creaminess and caramel notes, this drink is perfect for enjoying on cold afternoons. We can top our chocolate with marshmallows or, following Spanish tradition, dip churros in it.

To improve its smoothness, we recommend lighting up a Punch Mini. The strong strength of the cigarillo provides the perfect contrast to the balanced flavor of Baileys, adding more intense and smoky notes.

Although many look forward to the arrival of spring, the last days of winter are perfect for discovering new experiences.  With the combination of a nice hot drink and a delicious Cuban mini cigars, we not only warm up, but also make the most of the final stretch of this.
