Ideal Pairings to Celebrate the Year’s End with Your Favorite Cuban Minis

The end of December brings with it one of the most eagerly awaited celebrations of the year: New Year’s Eve. An evening that brings together carefully prepared recipes, the company of our loved ones and, of course, the long-awaited New Year’s toast.

New Year’s Eve dinners are always a challenge to organize from managing our guests to preparing special dishes that we only serve once or twice a year. And that’s not even mentioning wine pairings, especially if we’re looking for a unique and memorable culinary experience.

To ensure your New Year’s Eve dinner is all pleasure and no stress, today we suggest four pairings to enjoy before the toast, combining desserts, drinks, and the finest Cuban mini cigars.

Crème Brûlée and Sauternes (France)

If you want to add a touch of elegance to your New Year’s Eve celebrations, there’s nothing like incorporating two French classics into your menu: crème brûlée and an iconic Sauternes dessert wine.

The creamy texture and caramelized layer of the dessert pair perfectly with the honeyed notes of this Bordeaux wine, creating a delicate and distinguished harmony. As the crowning touch, we recommend lighting a delicate Trinidad Short, whose festive character will only enhance our evening.

Pavlova and Shiraz (Australia)

Do you celebrate New Year’s Eve in summer? We have the perfect pairing for you: the light meringue of pavlova and the aromatic expression of black fruits in an Australian Shiraz.

The mix of meringue and fresh fruit that characterizes our dessert pairs beautifully with the fruity notes of this wine, which has become an emblem of Australian viticulture. It is a light and balanced pairing, perfect for summer weather. To add a special touch to the whole experience, we suggest the intensity of a Partagás Serie Mini, a Cuban mini cigar full of personality and character.

Buñuelos with piloncillo syrup and vanilla atole (Mexico)

If you’re looking for a more authentic and traditional pairing, just follow Mexico’s example and combine buñuelos and atole.

The crispy texture of the buñuelo and its syrup are balanced by the warmth and smoothness of the vanilla atole, creating a comforting harmony. However, due to its intense sweetness, this combination needs a smooth counterpoint that only an elegant Montecristo Open Club can provide.

Ichigo daifuku and sake (Japan)

Last but not least, we find an ideal harmony for palates seeking a balance of flavors: the Japanese combo of strawberry daifuku and sake.

The delicacy and moderate sweetness of mochi enhance the effervescence and floral nuances of sake, offering us an original pairing that surprises our guests. To go one step further, we suggest lighting a floral Punch Mini to add a unique touch to the soft flavors of this harmony.

New Year’s Eve is an evening of fine dining, traditions, and good company. It’s a real celebration where we go all out to welcome the new year. And this can be as simple as enjoying a delicious dessert, an unforgettable toast, and the company of our favorite Cuban minis cigars. Happy 2026!
