cerveza cuban mini cigars

Let’s find out which beer goes best with your favourite Cuban mini cigars

For many, a cold beer is the best remedy to combat the high temperatures in summer. As International Beer Day approaches in August, here are three perfect beer and Cuban mini cigar pairings to celebrate.

1. Lager and Montecristo Club

In the 19th century, the Bavarians used to store their beer in caves to allow it to mature, hence the name lagern, which in German means ‘to store’. Lager is characterised by a smooth, clean and balanced taste, with a moderate bitterness and a floral or herbal aroma. We suggest to savour it together with a Montecristo Club, of medium strength, which combines perfectly with Lager and enhances all the nuances.

2. IPA and Romeo y Julieta Mini

IPA, or Indian Pale Ale, dates back to the English colonisation of the Orient in the 18th century. The English were looking for a solution to preserve beer on trade voyages to Asia for up to 300 days without refrigeration or pasteurisation. Thus the IPA was born, increasing the alcohol content and adding more hops, which were already known to have antiseptic and preservative properties. It is amber in colour and has a moderate to intense bitterness. Ideal to enjoy with Romeo y Julieta Mini, which offers a medium strength and a very aromatic blend.

3. Porter and Partagás Chicos

Even older, from the early 18th century, is the Porter beer, of London origin – in fact, its name comes from the success it enjoyed among the porters who worked in London’s supply markets. It is brewed from brown malted barley, an ingredient that leaves a deep, roasted flavour, with notes of coffee and bitter chocolate. Hence its dark brown colour and also its natural pairing with a Partagás Chicos, which has a strong strength and intense flavour.

Three ideal proposals to refresh and fill yourself with the flavour of the best tobacco in the world. Which one do you choose?
